Remembering Amber

Amber Lynn Wakefield was 18 years old when she passed away after a three and a half year battle against aplastic anemia. Amber was born in Groton, Connecticut and moved to California when she was three years old. After living in the Monterey Bay Area for a few years, her family relocated when she was  six years old to the suburbs of San Diego in an area called Rancho Bernardo.

Amber loved Tinkerbell, Tigger, listening to music, reading Harry Potter, watching movies, and traveling annually to Hawaii during spring break. Amber dreamed of being a veterinarian when she grew up. She would often take in the neighborhood strays and help them find their homes, and volunteered at the local veterinary hospital when she was in high school.

Those who knew Amber loved her fire-filled spirit and appreciated the strength and courage that she exhibited daily in her battle against aplastic anemia. She was a very giving and compassionate person who wanted so very much to help animals and people in need.

We miss her everyday, but she is never far from our hearts and minds.

When Amber was little we were flying somewhere for vacation. As we were walking down the jet bridge she suddenly jumped into the circle and said, “Beam me up Scotty”.
